Buchanan's Litigation Co-chair Steven Bizar Presents on Third Circuit's Decision in Hydrogen Peroxide Case at Great Lakes Antitrust Institute

Philadelphia, PA, November 9, 2009 — On November 6, 2009, Steven E. Bizar — a shareholder and co-chair of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Litigation Section — participated in the inaugural Great Lakes Antitrust Institute. The event, which took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Columbus, Ohio, focused on hot topics in the new age of antitrust enforcement.
Bizar presented "Class Wars: Has the Standard for Class Certification Changed?," which provided background and analysis on the recent precedent-setting decision In re Hydrogen Peroxide Antitrust Litigation, in which Bizar represented defendant Arkema Inc. in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Third Circuit's decision in Hydrogen Peroxide significantly clarifies what district courts must do when conducting the rigorous analysis required to resolve contested class certification motions under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23.
