Buchanan's Litigation Co-chair Steven Bizar Elected to Serve on Columbia Law School's Board of Visitors

Philadelphia, PA, July 7, 2009 — Steven E. Bizar, a shareholder and co-chair of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Litigation Section, recently accepted an invitation from the dean of Columbia Law School to serve on its Board of Visitors for a three-year term.

A 1988 graduate of the school and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, Bizar was nominated by Columbia's dean, David M. Schizer, and appointed by the president and trustees of the university. Nominees are selected for their leadership in law, business and service to the public as well as for their demonstrated commitment to the school.

About the Board of Visitors

The Columbia Law School Board of Visitors seeks to involve alumni and friends in significant and meaningful issues of concern to the school and build a sense of community and continuity that foster pride and participation in the school. The board meets as a group twice each year to discuss a wide range of issues, including legal education, short-term and long-term plans for Columbia Law School, and ongoing concerns in areas related to student admissions and careers, curricular initiatives, faculty research, alumni and constituent involvement and support, and resource needs.

Steven Bizar handles complex business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, both locally and throughout the country. He is co-chair of the firm's Litigation Section and a member of its Antitrust and Trade Regulation, Business Litigation, Securities Litigation, White-Collar Defense and Investigations, and Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Groups.
